Honest comparison · updated August 2026

Artisan vs. Rocketship:
an AI BDR seat, or the whole pipeline.

Artisan's Ava is a dedicated AI BDR: it finds leads, runs outreach, handles replies and books meetings, and it does that one job at BDR-seat prices. Rocketship does the same job from $24.99, adds live AI voice calls to the channels Ava works, and then keeps going: it answers the phone when the prospect calls back, builds the site the campaign points at, and takes the payment at the end of it.

The cost math

The honest framing is that these are not the same purchase. Artisan sells a dedicated AI BDR and prices like one: publicly reported entry plans start around $250 to $280 a month, higher tiers around $660, and enterprise arrangements considerably above that, with the data allowance billed alongside the seat.

Rocketship's outbound is included in a $24.99 plan that also builds the app, answers the phone and takes the payment. Roughly a tenth of the entry cost, bought with a card instead of a demo, and it works a channel Ava does not: live AI voice calls that qualify the lead and book the meeting on the call.

That last part matters more than it sounds. An AI BDR books a meeting and hands the prospect back to a business that may not answer its own phone. Here the same platform that sent the email picks up the call, and both land on one customer timeline instead of two systems you reconcile by hand.

When Artisan is the right choice

  • Outbound is your entire growth motion and you have a sales team to run behind it.
  • You need deep multi-channel sequencing, large data volumes and BDR-grade tooling, and you're budgeted for it.
  • You already have a website, a phone process and a CRM you're happy with.

When Rocketship is

  • You're a small business or a founder, and $250 a month for outbound alone is not the shape of the problem.
  • The leads that matter most are the ones who call you, and right now nobody answers after hours.
  • You'd rather one subscription cover the site, the phone, the follow-up and the checkout than assemble four.

The comparison that settles it: a phone call.
